PREREQUISITES FOR RESTRUCTURING MANUFACTURING ENTERPRISES IN THE CONDITIONS OF ECONOMIC INSTABILITY IN UKRAINE

Abstract

This article examines the theoretical, methodological, and practical prerequisites for the restructuring of manufacturing enterprises amidst economic instability precipitated by Russia's full-scale military aggression against Ukraine. The fundamental role of the industrial sector in ensuring national economic security, contributing to gross domestic product formation, and sustaining export potential is substantiated. Drawing upon empirical data, a comprehensive analysis is conducted regarding the dynamics of enterprise numbers, their sectoral specialisation, regional distribution, and shifts in employment structures. A critical decline in manufacturing capacity in 2022 is identified, attributable to direct consequences of hostilities, population displacement, disruption of logistics chains, and energy infrastructure destabilisation. The necessity of transitioning from reactive crisis management to proactive adaptation through systematic restructuring is rigorously justified. It is demonstrated that overcoming crisis phenomena requires an integrated application of financial, operational, strategic, organisational, and innovative transformation, aligned with wartime realities. Mechanisms for debt refinancing, capital structure optimisation, production facility modernisation, digitalisation of business processes, and the implementation of benchmarking, business process reengineering, and quality management methodologies are examined in detail. Recommendations are formulated for developing adaptive anti-crisis strategies aimed at restoring solvency, enhancing operational efficiency, and integrating Ukrainian manufacturers into European value chains. The findings establish a scientific and methodological foundation for informed managerial decision-making at micro-level within the context of post-war economic reconstruction.
