ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF ARCHITECTURAL ENTERPRISES

Abstract

Summary. The article substantiates the feasibility of conducting a comprehensive diagnosis of the economic development of architectural firms, driven by the need for timely and comprehensive assessment of their performance, determination of their actual condition and development potential, identification of problem areas, and substantiation of decisions aimed at ensuring economic resilience and long-term performance. It is established that the performance of architectural firms is largely determined by changes in the external economic environment, including the state of the construction market, the level of investment activity, the demand for architectural and design services, the financial capacity of clients, the cost of labour and material and technical resources, and the economic conditions in the regions where they operate. It is argued that the assessment of the economic development of architectural firms should be based on a comprehensive diagnosis of their dynamics, structural changes, and the interrelationships between the scale of operations, resource provision, and performance. The following stages of assessing the economic development of architectural firms are identified: 1) determining the scale and dynamics of firms’ economic activity; 2) examining the economic performance and efficiency of firms’ operations; 3) assessing financial and property characteristics and the sustainability of development; 4) generalising the patterns of economic development, whereby the results of individual areas of analysis are synthesised to identify dominant trends, stable relationships, positive and negative changes, differences between firms, and the overall nature of their economic development during the period under study. The study identifies four interrelated patterns of the economic development of architectural firms that characterise its key manifestations: expansion of the scale of economic activity; the absence of a direct proportional relationship between the scale of activity and its economic performance; asynchronous changes in labour productivity and financial results; and the multidirectional and heterogeneous nature of financial models for supporting economic development.
