CURRENT STATE OF FOREIGN TRADE IN GOODS OF THE CITY OF KYIV

Abstract

This article studies the main indicators of the capital's foreign trade in goods for 2021–2024, in particular the share of exports and imports in the national trade volume, the trade balance, the volumes and structure of exports and imports by main groups of goods, and calculates the export-import coverage ratios. It was found that the foreign trade balance of Kyiv remains negative and indicates dependence on foreign markets. In the export structure, a significant share is occupied by products of plant origin; fats and oils of animal or plant origin and finished food products, in the import structure - finished products, in particular, machines, equipment and mechanisms; electrical equipment; products of the chemical and related industries; mineral products; land transport, aircraft, floating facilities - that is, goods with high added value, which negatively affects the economy of the capital. The full-scale Russian invasion of our country has a negative impact on the sphere of foreign trade in goods, which leads to a reduction in the value of exports and imports of goods from Kyiv, as well as a reduction in foreign exchange revenues to the city's economy. During 2022–2024, a decline in prices for basic food products was observed in the world. It should be noted that export prices per metric ton of Ukrainian food products were lower than world prices. The data on the distribution of the value of foreign trade volumes of Kyiv by geographical regions were studied. The main trading partners of the capital remain the countries of the European Union and Asia. In 2024, compared to 2021, the increase and decrease in the value of exports and imports of goods of the largest countries in the world were calculated. It was concluded that among the main tasks of today is the implementation of innovative developments that will contribute to improving the quality of domestic products, which should become competitive in world markets and comply with international norms and standards.
