INNOVATIVE ACTIVITIES OF FOOD INDUSTRY ENTERPRISES OF UKRAINE DURING THE WAR

The article describes the conditions for implementing innovative activities by food industry enterprises in wartime (disruption of logistics chains, destruction or damage to production facilities, changes in domestic demand, reduction in export activity). An infographic diagram of the innovative activity of food industry enterprises is presented. Starting from 2022, a decline in the innovative activity of food industry enterprises as a result of military operations in the country and a reorientation of sources of financing for innovative activity are identified: the share of own sources of financing for research and innovation projects has increased. However, in 2024, positive changes are noted in the innovation orientations of the studied enterprises, such as the need to adapt to operating conditions, market needs, taking into account strategic ambitions regarding the competitiveness of national products and food on international markets, and also taking into account the action of various support programs (USAID programs, EU grants and preferential loans for the modernization of production), reorientation to the domestic market and import substitution, participation in digital transformation and the creation of cluster initiatives. It is argued that the structure of financing has been one of the key factors influencing the possibility of continuing or stopping the introduction of new technologies, modernizing production processes, and increasing the competitiveness of products. The limited participation of external investors and the public sector indicates the need to strengthen financial incentives for innovative activity. It has been determined that the innovative activity of food industry enterprises serves not only as a means of survival, but also as a tool for transformation, allowing the industry to adapt to new conditions, increase efficiency, respond to social challenges, and form competitive advantages in the long term.
